WATCH: Meyersdal residents raise concerns over roads, vagrants and overgrown vegetation
Ward 106 Clr Tim Denny leads city officials on a site visit as MMC Jogziziwe Dlabathi and other CoE representatives pledge to address infrastructure and maintenance issues.
Residents of Meyersdal have been complaining about the poor condition of roads, vagrants creating crime hotspots, and the upkeep of vegetation and lawns in the area.
Ward 106 Clr Tim Denny led a site visit in Meyersdal on November 21.
The visit brought together MMC for Finance Jogziziwe Dlabathi, Alberton community relations manager (CRM) Khosi Dlamini, and various HODs and officials from the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).
The visit aimed to address residents’ concerns about the deteriorating state of infrastructure in the area.

Denny emphasised that Meyersdal residents pay the most in rates and taxes, making it imperative for the city to provide essential services the residents pay for regularly.
During the site visit, the MMC and officials committed to addressing the key issues raised by residents.
These include maintaining roads, removing vagrants from surrounding areas, and improving the general upkeep of vegetation and lawns.
Denny also mentioned that the surrounding areas Randhart, Raceview, and New Redruth, will receive attention to bring the entire Alberton area up to standard.

“There was concern from residents about the decrease in service delivery and maintenance in a flagship area in Ekurhuleni, and they wanted answers as to why this was the case.
“I thank the MMC and all those who attended the visit,” said Denny.
