WATCH: Alberton’s Hoërskool Marais Viljoen among the top performing schools for the class of 2025

Alberton-based Hoërskool Marais Viljoen is among the top-performing schools for the 2025 matric class.

The school improved its matric pass rate in 2025 when compared with 2024.

Excited parents and former learners lined up at the school’s Martie Heystek building to collect their results, which were being handed out by visibly proud teachers.

Hoërskool Marais Viljoen obtained a 98.9% pass rate, up from 98.5% in 2024. The school released a statement congratulating the Class of 2025.

“We are proud of all our learners’ achievements. Congratulations to each matriculant for their hard work and dedication. Parents and teachers, your hard work paid off; we are proud of you. To the Class of 2025, may you always walk forward with courage, look back with pride, and dream with hope,” said the school in a statement.

Hoërskool Marais Viljoen’s Class of 2025 obtained 237 distinctions, 15 subjects with a 100% pass rate, and a bachelor’s pass rate of 80.84%.

Top achievers at HS Viljoen:

• Cheylene Whitecross (seven distinctions)

• Ayanda Ndlovu (six distinctions)

• Ridamreet Oberoi (six distinctions)

• Mignon Mentz (five distinctions)

• Jana Smit (five distinctions)

• Camryn LcLauchlan (five distinctions)
