Stepping Stone Hospice’s Lorraine Connock wins Club 2000 for fifth time

Stepping Stone Hospice Club 2000 supporter Lorraine Connock scoops R20 000 again, making history while helping the hospice continue its vital care for patients and families.

Stepping Stone Hospice is celebrating a historic milestone after one of its loyal supporters, Lorraine Connock, claimed the top prize in the Club 2000 draw for an unprecedented fifth time.

In the 77th draw held in January 2026, Connock again won R20 000, a feat that has never been achieved in the Club 2000 initiative’s history.

Her remarkable winning streak has captured the attention of fellow supporters and hospice staff.

Connock’s record now stands as follows:

• September 2021 – R20 000

• November 2023 – R2 000

• November 2024 – R20 000

• October 2025 – R20 000

• January 2026 – R20 000

Her total winnings exceed R82 000, all from consistently purchasing her monthly tickets.

Connock currently holds three tickets in each draw.

According to the organisers, there is no secret formula behind her success. She believes in the hospice’s mission, buys her tickets faithfully, and remains in the running month after month.

The January draw also produced several other winners:

• 2nd prize – R2 000: Mary Stierlin (ticket no 1485)

• 3rd prize – R1 000: Jacobus van Onselen (ticket no 2498)

• 4th prize – R500: Frieda Garvie (ticket no 1779)

• 5th prize – R500: Danielene Botha (ticket no 1050)

• 6th prize – R500: Christiaan Bouwer (ticket no 2342)

• 7th prize – R500: HH Gerber (ticket no 1048).

In a generous show of community spirit, some winners donated a portion of their winnings back to Stepping Stone Hospice, reinforcing the shared commitment to supporting patients and their families.

Club 2000 tickets cost R50, with proceeds going towards the hospice’s ongoing care services.

Stepping Stone Hospice thanked every entrant, noting that continued support enables the organisation to uphold its promises to patients and their loved ones.

The February 2026 draw will take place on March 11, and supporters are encouraged to secure their tickets for another chance to win and to make a meaningful difference.

In addition, the hospice is appealing to the community to support its brick-by-brick campaign, an initiative aimed at building sustainable resources for the future of its services.
