WATCH: Stepping Stone pays tribute to nurses making a difference

Stepping Stone Hospice celebrates International Nurses Day by recognising the nurses who provide compassionate care and support to patients and families every day

Every year on May 12, people around the world celebrate International Nurses Day and thank nurses for the important work they do.

At Stepping Stone Hospice, the day is very special because nurses play a big role in caring for patients and supporting families during difficult times.

Stepping Stone Hospice believes every person living with a serious illness deserves care, kindness, dignity and respect.

The Hospice nurses help make patients feel comfortable and cared for while also giving emotional support to their loved ones.

This year’s International Nurses Day theme is Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives. The theme encourages people to support and appreciate nurses for their work in healthcare.

Founder and CEO Tersia Burger said the nurses at the Hospice are the heart of the organisation.

“Our nurses do more than care for patients. They bring comfort, kindness and dignity to families during very difficult moments. We are proud of every nurse who serves our community with compassion and love,” she said.

Stepping Stone Hospice relies on community support to continue its work. Residents who would like to refer a patient, make a donation or find out more can contact the Hospice on 010 442 5059 or email fundraising@steppingstonehospice.co.za
