Fishing enthusiasts, families and outdoor lovers are invited to take part in an exciting Winter Fishing Competition at Fun Fishing, located at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on June 27.

Hosted by Delta Sport in collaboration with Fun Fishing, the event promises a day of friendly competition, great prizes and outdoor fun for anglers of all skill levels.

The competition will start from 07:00 to 15:00, with the peg draw scheduled for 06:30.

Participants will compete for prizes in the heaviest bag, biggest fish and most unique catch categories.

Hampers, courtesy of Fun Fishing, will also be up for grabs, while a special joker peg will allow anglers to choose their preferred fishing spot anywhere on the oval.

The entry fee is R200 per person, which includes gate fees. Organisers said the more entries received, the bigger the prize pool will be.

For those new to fishing or looking to improve their skills, Delta Sport and Fun Fishing also offer guided fishing experiences.

These include a one-hour guided lesson and bait essentials, making it an ideal opportunity for beginners to learn the basics of the sport.

Families and groups are welcome, and spectators can also attend for a gate fee of R60.
