Alberton Stars Private School celebrated an impressive performance at the Interschools Sports Tournament hosted by Buhle Park Primary School, with learners sweeping all top five positions in the chess competition while also displaying determination and sportsmanship in soccer and netball
Alberton Stars Private School proudly showcased its talent, determination and sportsmanship at the Interschools Sports Tournament held at Buhle Park Primary School on June 13.
The tournament brought together learners from Buhle Park Primary School, Igagasi Primary School, Katlehong Primary School and Alberton Stars Private School for a day of competitive sporting action.
Participants competed in soccer, netball and chess, representing their schools.
Alberton Stars emerged as the standout performers in the chess competition, securing all five top positions.
Sipho claimed first place, followed by Dzumisani in second place and Skyler in third. Kabelo and Ezekiel completed the remarkable achievement by finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

While the school’s soccer and netball teams did not take top honours, they demonstrated resilience, teamwork and determination throughout the day, gaining valuable experience against strong opposition from neighbouring schools.
School director Lenda Sibanyoni-Muzei praised the learners for their outstanding conduct and commitment during the tournament.
“We are incredibly proud of our learners for the way they represented Alberton Stars. Their commitment, teamwork, discipline, and positive attitude throughout the tournament reflect the values we strive to instil in our learners every day,” said Sibanyoni-Muzei.

The school extended its appreciation to Buhle Park Primary School for hosting the successful event and thanked the participating schools, educators, coaches, parents and organisers whose contributions made the day possible.
Special recognition was also given to Cecil Sibeko for coordinating Alberton Stars’ participation and helping to create a memorable experience for the learners.
The tournament not only provided an opportunity for healthy competition but also encouraged friendship, teamwork and personal growth among learners from different schools.
