Parents and guardians in Alberton and surrounding areas with children entering Grade One or Grade Eight in 2027 are encouraged to begin preparing the necessary supporting documents while they wait for the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) to announce the official online admissions application dates.

The GDE has confirmed that the application period for the 2027 online admissions process has not yet been announced.

The department has urged parents to rely only on its official communication platforms for verified information after false notices circulated on social media claiming applications had already opened.

In the meantime, parents should ensure they have the following documents ready:

• Parent or guardian’s South African ID or passport, together with the learner’s birth certificate or passport.

• Permanent residence permit (where applicable).

• Study permit (where applicable).

• Proof of home address.

• Proof of work address.

• The learner’s most recent Grade Seven report (for Grade Eight applicants only).

• Clinic card or immunisation report (for Grade One applicants only).

The department also reminded parents that Grade R applications are not submitted online and must be made directly at schools.

The GDE said the official application dates will be communicated through its verified platforms once finalised.
