How do you see your glass?

Your happiness and sadness depends on you, see life differently.

“It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters” – Epictetus.

The glass, in this instance, represents how you look at and approach life. You have heard of the saying, “Do you see the glass as half full or half empty”?

This talks about your mindset and outlook on life. If you see the glass as half-full, it means you are positive and optimistic about life and the future despite the challenges. Seeing the glass as half-empty is about being pessimistic and seeing everything wrong in every situation. I am certain you have also heard of the cause-and-effect phenomenon, referring to the relationship between what happens and what causes it.

Our outlook on life affects our overall well-being. This means when you see the glass as half-full, your level of happiness, life satisfaction, and health improves. If you see the glass as half-empty or pessimistic, your stress level increases, compromising your well-being and leading to a significant loss of confidence.

Well-being is linked to happiness. Your attitude towards life truly has a significant impact on how your health turns out. The quote by Epictetus explains this. The glass and the water inside are just the glass and the water, the only difference is the attitude of the person looking at it.

Our attitude determines how we experience our lives. How we experience life determines whether we are stressed or happy. When we are stressed, the brain releases chemicals meant to prepare our bodies to fight or run away from danger or situation that threatens us.

This is good for the short term but not for a prolonged period as these stress chemicals – cortisol and adrenaline, flood your system and become toxic, damaging your brain and body cells.
