Cook to lead bizhub Highveld Lions

GCB announced the leadership team for the bizhub Highveld Lions

THE bizhub Highveld Lions announced the team’s leadership for the 2015/16 season on Tuesday, August 4.

Thabang Moroe, bizhub Highveld Lions chairman, shared the vision which the Gauteng Cricket Board (GCB) wishes to achieve through these appointments. “We have taken the experience from the past few seasons. Through this GCB has implemented a captaincy structure that not only secures the depth of leadership within the franchise but also ensures that we give as many quality opportunities to promising players as possible. This will ensure that the team on the field has the knowledge and expertise to guide them to many more match winning performances”.

Head coach, Geoffrey Toyana, expressed his faith in the leaders who will lead the bizhub Highveld Lions in several domestic competitions. “Changes to the contracted players leading up to the season have given us the opportunity to re-evaluate the captaincy of the team and I am confident that those that have been appointed will rise to the occasion when required. Expertise in the various formats ensures that we are ready for whatever the conditions might require of the captain on the day. The team has fought hard to bring the Sunfoil Series trophy back home after 15 years and we are not about to let go of it again. That was an ideal end to the previous season but our focus is to rather add more silverware to it,” Toyana said.

The appointed leadership team:

Vice-captain: Dominic Hendricks

Momentum One Day Cup

Captain: Stephen Cook

Vice-captain: Thami Tsolekile

Ram Slam T20

Captain: Thami Tsolekile
