Business league bowls ends on a high

The team Francois Wiese Associates was crowned winners of the league.

The Business League Bowls Tournament of 2020 came to a close on March 4 on the the final day of bowls.

A full complement of 28 teams competed in the league against each other for the top spot.

“There was an incredible air of camaraderie while competing for the trophy,” said Renée Venter from Alberton Bowling Club.

After the many weeks of competition, Francois Wiese Associates was crowned the winners of the Alberton Business league 2020.

Another success story from the league was that of Pregasen Benjaman, better known as Brendan Benjaman.

Pregasen, a senior police officer, started playing in the business league two years ago where the bowls bug bit him.

He was elected chairperson of SAPS National Bowls, and went on to win the National Singles Championship. His team also took gold at the SAPS National Bowls Tournament.

The Alberton Bowling Club would like to congratulate him on this truly remarkable achievement.

The club thanked all of the generous sponsors that made the tournament possible.

“This tournament is truly an inspiration for youngsters to join and participate in this wonderful game,” said Renée Venter.

“The ultimate goal of making the broader public more aware of the fabulous sport is reached .”
