Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School shines in friendly matches against Transvalia
Both schools showcased talent in all the featured sports.
Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School hosted Transvalia in a series of friendly hockey, rugby and netball matches on the weekend of March 1.
The event drew strong support from parents and locals, creating an exciting atmosphere when the players showcased their skills.
Food was also sold at the venue, adding to the lively spirit.
Hockey results
The hockey teams delivered competitive performances, with the girls’ teams securing a few wins and draws, while the boys had a tough challenge against Transvalia.

Girls’ hockey:
The second team secured a 2-0 victory, while the 16A team played to a 4-4 draw.
The 15B team held their opponents to a goalless draw.
The 14A, 14B, 15A and first teams fought hard but fell short to strong opposition.

Boys’ hockey:
The 14A team put up a fight but lost 1-2.
The 16A team went down 0-4, while the first team lost 0-7 despite putting up a tough challenge.
Despite some losses, the teams showed determination, and the experience gained will serve them well for the season ahead.

Rugby results
The Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School rugby teams were resilient and dominant, winning four matches, including a 24-15 victory for the first team.
The 14A team earned a thrilling 17-15 win, while the 16A team delivered a commanding 17-0 victory.
The 15A team and second team battled to hard-fought draws, finishing 10-10 and 3-5, respectively.
The 15B, 16B, and third and fourth teams had challenging matches against strong Transvalia squads.
Overall, Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School won four rugby matches and drew one.

Netball results
The netball teams dominated their matches with 13 wins and two draws across 15 games.
The 14A team set the tone with a 47-8 victory.
The first team won 37-25, while the second team followed with a dominant 43-5 performance.
The 16C team produced one of the most impressive results of the day, winning 44-1.
The 15A and 15B teams played to 16-16 and 12-12 draws, respectively.

“A big thank you to the players, coaches and supporters for making the event successful. With the season in full swing, Marais Viljoen will look to build on these performances in the matches to come,” said the school in a Facebook post.
