Kurt Daniels, father of Khloe and Kaelin, says his children began swimming when they were four and started competing around eight.

Their swimming instructors sparked their passion. These instructors instantly saw their natural talent and encouraged them to explore competitive swimming.

From there, they found the perfect club, and their love for the sport has grown. It has been an exciting journey ever since.

The young stars train with Aqua Warriors, a club in the south of Johannesburg, to prepare themselves for regional-level events like this. Their training schedule is intense, with six days a week and additional school swimming sessions three times weekly.

Kaelin faced some physical challenges with his shoulder and back, but through dedication, regular stretching, strapping, and physiotherapy, he pushed through.

The highlight for both swimmers this season was hitting their personal best times at the regionals – a breakthrough that made the effort worthwhile.

Kaelin brought home multiple medals, placed highly in all events and his family was very proud of him.

“Kaelin’s determination and discipline paid off. He set clear goals, stayed focused, and gave it his all. Seeing him stand on that podium was a rewarding moment; it proved that hard work and perseverance bring results,” said his father.

The medals that they won.

“Kaelin set a goal last year to place at regionals and committed himself to achieving it. His focus, consistent training, and positive mindset were key to his success. He believed in himself and that belief, along with sheer determination, made the difference,” Kurt added.

“Khloe stepped up and showed us how determined she was. Watching her grow in confidence and skills has been amazing. We are proud beyond words and can see she has the drive to take her swimming to new heights.”

Both swimmers are now setting their sights on the winter galas and aiming to achieve level three times. Their goal is to reach South African national qualifying times.
