Team South Africa’s Ashlynn Norman heads to COSASSA Games in Eswatini
After winning gold at the AUS Region 5 Youth Games in Namibia, Ashlynn Norman is set to represent South Africa in the 100m sprint and long jump at the COSASSA Games 2025.
Sixteen-year-old Ashlynn Norman, a Grade 11 learner at Hoërskool Marais Viljoen, continues to make waves in South African athletics.
After a standout performance at the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games in Swakopmund, Namibia, where she won gold in the long jump and the 4x100m relay, Ashlynn has now been selected to represent Team South Africa at the 2025 COSASSA Games.
The national team was chosen at the National School Sports Championships (NSSC) Autumn Games in Bloemfontein from April 2 to 5, with Ashlynn among 69 athletes who will compete for South Africa at the COSASSA Games, scheduled from August 23 to 28 in Lobamba, City of Ezulwini, Eswatini.
Competing under Gauteng Schools Athletics (GSA), Ashlynn will take part in the 100m sprint and the long jump in the Girls U18 category.

Reflecting on her selection, Ashlynn said: “I’m beyond thrilled to share that I’ve been selected to represent South Africa in school athletics at the upcoming COSASSA Games in Eswatini. I’m honoured and excited for this incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to put my best foot forward and make our country proud.”
Ashlynn’s journey from her first international outing in Namibia to now representing South Africa again highlights her dedication and talent.
At the AUSC Region 5 Youth Games, she overcame challenging conditions to leap 5.38m in the long jump, securing gold, and contributed to a victorious 4x100m relay team.
As she gears up for the COSASSA Games, all eyes will be on Ashlynn as she aims to continue her remarkable international career.
