Hoërskool Marais Viljoen cricketers shine at T20 Cricket Festival

Hoërskool Marais Viljoen’s U16 cricket team celebrated a good win at the Potchefstroom Gymnasium T20 Cricket Festival after strong performances across eight matches.

The Hoërskool Marais Viljoen (HMV) cricketers put on a strong performance at the Potchefstroom Gymnasium T20 Cricket Festival from October 9 to 12.

Players from various schools competed for the top spot.

HMV’s performance:

Match one: HMV vs Wesvalia: HMV batted first: 137/10 (19.1 innings). Wesvalia: 106/10 (19.3 innings). HMV won by 32 runs.

Standout batsmen:

• Rieshaeel Hashim: 38 (22);

• Zaim Hashim: 29 (27);

• John Booysen: 21 (19).

Standout bowlers:

• Zaim Hashim: Three wickets for 14 runs.

• Rieshaeel Hashim: Three wickets for four runs;

• RJ de Beer: One wicket for seven runs.

Match two: HMV vs Leeuwenhoff

HMV: 92/10 (19.1 overs) on a difficult pitch.

Leeuwenhoff: 84/8 (20 overs). HMV won by nine runs.

Final match: HMV vs Potchefstroom Gymnasium. Potch Gym: 111/9 in 20. HMV: 112/8 in 20. HMV won the T20 Cricket Festival for the first time.

HMV had six wins, one loss and one draw.
