Five ways to ensure silky smooth skin this winter

Tips on how to take care of your skin this winter.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The cold air and central heating can take its toll on your skin. Here are a few things to consider and add to your beauty routine to ensure than your skin stays silky smooth all year round.

In hot water:

Taking a hot bath or shower feels amazing in the winter time, but it strips your skin of oils. Rather opt for a lukewarm bath or shower. If you feel that you need a bit of a treat or some TLC then pour a few drops of bath oil in your bath to lock in moisture. If you prefer a shower, moisturise yourself immediately after the shower to lock in as much moisture as possible.

Get rid of dead skin:

Remember to exfoliate during winter. This will help your body to get rid of dead skin cells to make sure that the moisture you apply when moisturising penetrates to where it is needed.

In the thick of things:

When choosing a moisturiser for winter, go for one with a thicker consistency, like a body butter or a cream instead of a water-based moisturiser as your skin needs more nutrition in winter.

Soapy suds:

You should also make sure that you choose a soap or shower gel with a moisturising element for winter.

Skip the bubbles:

Do not bath in bubble bath. The soap will dry out your skin. If you really feel that you need something special, use grape seed oil in a bath.
