State pushes Mabasa’s case to 2026 for further investigations

Ntokoto Mabasa’s murder case has been postponed to next year as the state pushes to get postmortem and DNA reports.

Ntokoto Mabasa, who is accused of the murder of her boyfriend Xichavo Ntsanwisi, made a brief appearance in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on November 25.

She faces charges relating to Ntsanwisi’s fatal stabbing at their Midrand apartment on September 22.

During her brief appearance, the state requested a postponement to February 27 for further investigations. The postponement, according to state prosecutor Lufuno Maphiri, will give the state time to obtain critical evidence, including the postmortem and DNA reports.

Magistrate Rennie Boshoff granted the request, emphasising that the state must conduct its investigations without delay.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s aunt, Tinyiko Ntsanwisi, said the family is still reeling from the loss of Xichavo.

“It is awful, the pain is unbearable, knowing that justice has not been served. Xichavo left a young daughter, and when I see her, it pains me a lot.”

Although a witness statement presented before the court during Mabasa’s bail application alleged that Ntsanwisi had assaulted her moments before the incident happened, Tinyiko said the deceased was a kind person who loved everyone and was always happy.

Mabasa, who was granted R10 000 bail last month, is expected back in court next year.
