Gunman shot dead after wounding two officers at Alexandra Police Station
Two officers have been shot at Alexandra Police Station by a man who took an officer's gun. Gauteng deputy provincial commissioner Major-General Fred Kekana explains the situation.
Two police officers were shot and wounded on November 14 at the Alexandra Police Station when a man opened fire on officers manning the community help desk.
A source, who works at the station, but preferred not to be named, recounted how the scene unfolded from under a table, where she had taken cover during the exchange of bullets.

According to the witness, a man came to the station as early as 06:00, claiming to be pursued by undisclosed persons. When he realised he was not given attention by the officers manning the desk, the man is said to have walked behind the service counter and disarmed an unaware on-duty officer engaged in some paperwork.
Now armed, the man is said to have opened fire, shooting two police officers before fleeing the scene. He was eventually gunned down by pursuing officers a couple of blocks down the road.
