Black Poison annihilates Amajananda

ALEXANDRA -– Black Poison goes the tsunami derby on April 2 with a three-point advantage and a one-goal difference.

Black Poison was ruthlessly shoved down the throat of a hapless Amajananda side that was annihilated 5–1 in a SAB League derby at Alexandra Stadium.

This was ahead of a crucial SAB League derby on April 2 between Poison and Malandela Mighty Heroes which is set to decide who of the two Alex teams gets to be crowned champions of this regional league.

Malandela played one of their best football matches against Westbury side FC Munich but only managed to scrape through with a slender 1–0 win as its forwards seemed to have left their scoring boots at home.

They could have easily put more than five goals past Munich who returned for the second half a rejuvenated side that showed more hunger and resolve to get an equaliser that was never to be.

Poison also wasted numerous scoring opportunities but their opening goal came through the boot of Dimakatso Mkabane with only 10 minutes left before the half-time break.

In the dying minutes of the first half, Amajananda were awarded a penalty when the ball was handled inside the box and their keeper Thami Mokhio raised his hand to take it and made no mistake with the teams going into the break deadlocked at 1–1.

On resumption, Mkabane got his hat-trick after he had first restored his side’s lead and then slotted home a penalty to give Poison a 3–1 advantage. He then spoilt his scoring rhythm when he changed his slightly damaged hot striking boots for another pair.

Poison’s Owen Mhlongo made it 4–1 but as if that was not enough, his teammate and striking kingpin Tholumuzi Dumakude immediately put what became the final nail in the coffin of Amajananda to take the tally to 5–1.
