‘Sore losers continue to sow seeds of division’ – Khumalo
The rumour mill is alive and kicking in the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association as disgruntled contenders are being accused of peddling false information in a bid to discredit the new executive of the LFA.
The Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association (LFA) has dispelled what it described as ‘rumours flying around that the LFA has willy-nilly expelled some clubs without observing constitutional provisions’.
The association’s secretary general Malvin Khumalo told Alex News that these accusations were nothing but rumours being peddled by some sore losers of the recent LFA elections which were held in March this year.
“You know, our elections were highly contested and the outcomes for the victors were not an outright win as the other contenders trailed too close for comfort and hence we are being bashed left, right and centre from the camp that lost in the elections,” Khumalo claimed.
Khumalo said no clubs have been expelled outside the parameters of the association’s rules. “The expulsion of the clubs affected was done in accordance with the rules regulating the functioning of the LFA.
“All the expulsions were proper and followed the provisions of the constitution to the letter, which state that when a team concedes three walkovers, they forfeit their league status. It’s a standard norm across all Safa [South African Football Association] structures and it’s not unique to us.
“It’s not the first time it has happened, even under the previous executive, teams have lost their league status due to none compliance. We are currently under attack in whatever we try and do in an effort to discredit the credibility of the association.”
Khumalo pointed out that the role of the association now remained hinged on the creation of a sound LFA that delivered on its football mandate to the Alex community. “Even the teams that were affected by this provision were well aware of the consequences and they actually expressed their guilt.”
