Winter Rose chairperson says league glory highlights team’s unmatched consistency
Alex Winter Rose FC worked hard to seize the ANLFA U19 league title after playing 11 games, securing 10 wins and a single draw. The team’s chairperson, Fuzile Mhlambiso, believes the win reflects the team’s consistency and is a sign of bigger things ahead.
Alex Winter Rose FC’s latest league crown is proof of a culture of consistency that defines the team, according to the club’s chairperson, Fuzile Mhlambiso.
Speaking at Altrec Sports Complex on Saturday, he maintained that while tournaments have always showcased Winter Rose’s ability to compete, the league was the true measure of consistency.

Mhlambiso believes that winning the ANLFA U19 league title demonstrated his team’s ability to sustain excellence across an entire season.
“I am overly excited that the boys won the league title this season. This is what I love the most, even more than tournaments, because we always do well in each and every tournament. The most important achievement for me is when a team takes the league, because they would have contended with 16 teams. So, the boys worked really hard this season.”
That hard work translated into near perfection for the team, with a total of 11 matches played, they got 10 victories, and only a single draw. The numbers, according to Mhlambiso, reflect a team that has built reliability into its identity.

The achievement is even more striking given that this was a newly formed U19 squad, introduced only this season.
“In the last season, we did not have U19; we had U17. But even during the last season, the only thing that got in our way of winning was just a single game. We won all the games in the last season, but lost the last game.”
That progression from U17 to U19 is, for Mhlambiso, a sign of growth and continuity. “This is their last U19 season, so what we sat and spoke about is to try to seize the 2025 league title, not only the tournament trophies. Now our boys have grown, and we want to take them to the senior division.”
Mhlambiso believes Winter Rose’s consistency across both tournaments and leagues is what will carry the U19 players into senior football with confidence.
