Welcome to the third generation of the BMW X6

BMW has unveiled the third generation, and the newest iteration of its Sports Activity Vehicle, the X6.

Increasing the overall size, the German automaker added 26 mm to the length of the vehicle which is also 15 mm wider. The height of the X6 decreased by 6 mm to 1 696 mm, and the wheelbase has been increased by 42 mm to 2 975 mm. The distinctive BMW kidney grille also increased in size and is available with an optional illumination feature which will see the grille being lit as you enter or depart the vehicle. The illumination on the grille can be manually switched on or off by the driver, even whilst driving.

Identifiable by the blue x-shaped elements within the headlamp, BMW Laserlight with Adaptive LED sees an increase in range to 500 meters with the Selective Beam option.  On all four corners of most of the derivatives, you will find 16-inch light-alloy wheels fitted as standard with a variety of 20-inch to 22-inch light-alloy options available. The BMW X6 M50i and BMW X6 M50d come fitted with 21-inch light-alloy wheels. The xLine and M Sport packages are available as an option from the date of launch of the X6.

Vernasca leather upholstery can be found as standard on all X6 derivatives. On option, you will find multifunction seats with massage function for both driver and front passenger, four-zone automatic climate control, thermoelectric cup holders, glass applications for selected controls, the Panorama glass roof, an interior fragrancing package; Ambient Air and the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond+ 3D Surround Sound System. Standard safety features include Cruise Control with braking function and the Collision and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function while an Active Cruise Control system with Stop & Go is available as an option.

The steering and lane keeping assistant with additional safety assistants such as, rear collision warning, road priority warning and wrong-way driving warning systems, crossing traffic warning, lane change warning and the emergency stop assistant forms part of the Driving Assistant Professional package which comes as optional. BMW also included its Live Cockpit Professional which features two 12.3-inch high-resolution screens, one functioning as the instrument cluster while the other performs the duties of a control display. In addition, BMW incorporated its Intelligent Personal Assistant which is voice activated.

Under the bonnet of the X6 M50i, you will find a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine capable of 390 kW and 750 N.m of torque while the M50d comes fitted with a 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder diesel engine producing 294 kW and developing 760 N.m of torque. Also available is the xDrive40i which features a 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder petrol engine able to produce 250 kW and 450 N.m of torque while the BMW X6 xDrive30d will develop 195 kW and 620 N.m of torque from its 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder diesel powertrain. All of the new variants will come fitted with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.

Pricing of the new BMW X6 range will be revealed at a date closer to the local launch.
