Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said a woman went to the OR Tambo Airport to pick up her boyfriend on March 24.
They went to a place of accommodation in Kensington. When they were at reception a man walked in and asked the hotel employee how much it costs to stay in one of the rooms.
“After the employee told him the price he said he was going to tell his friend how much the room was. The man left and came back a few minutes later with another man,” said W/O Munyai.
One of the men took the woman’s handbag that was on the counter.
“When she asked the men what was going on, the other man took out a firearm and told her not to make noise. The men took her handbag and fled,” said W/O Munyai.
