Men linked to several crimes

Three men, arrested by Cleveland SAPS and members of the tactical response team on July 10, have been linked to crimes in several suburbs, including Bedfordview.

Constable Mpho Mashakane, Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said police officers received information about people in 8th Street, Malvern, who were in possession of stolen goods.

The police officers went to the premises and found three men. The men and the premises were searched. Police officers seized one R5 rifle, one shotgun, three pistols and ammunition. Goods believed to be stolen, such as a DVD player, cellular phones, a camera and flat screen televisions, were also seized.

The men were also found in possession of keys for a BMW. The men told the police officers where the vehicle was.

The vehicle, which was hijacked in Sandton, was found in Primrose.

After investigations, the men were linked to a burglary and theft case in Bedfordview, a car hijacking case in Sandringham and a case of possession of unlicensed firearm in Alexandra.

The men, aged 28, 31 and 35, were arrested and detained at Cleveland SAPS.

They appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

At the time of going to print, the outcome of their appearance was not known.
