Man suspected of killing girlfriend arrested

A murder suspect has been found and arrested at a park in Yeoville on September 16.

Community members spotted the suspect at a park and notified the Yeoville SAPS. Officers responded, found the suspect and arrested him.

“The suspect was sleeping in parks because he knew the police was after him,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS.

The suspect has been on the run since he allegedly stabbed and killed his girlfriend at a house in Saunders Street, Yeoville, on September 14.

“The suspect and the victim were having an argument at the residence when the suspect stabbed her twice in the upper body and fled,” said Const Malatji.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.

“The Yeoville SAPS would like to thank members of the public and we urge them to continue assisting the police in the fight against crime,” said Constable Malatji.
