Pipe bands drum up support for Thembalami

Thembalami is run by 110-year-old NPO, the Rand Aid Association.

The pipe bands of African Skye and Jeppe CBC Boksburg will drum up some support for Thembalami Care Centre when they host their annual golf day on November 4.

The event will be held at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. A R2 400 four-ball includes greens fees, halfway house voucher, prize-giving dinner and entertainment.

Golfers and spectators are in for a treat as the African Skye band, which was invited to the Basel Tattoo in Switzerland next year, will provide entertainment throughout the day and at various holes on the golf course.

The care centre looks after frail and vulnerable senior citizens. Most of its residents exist only on state grants, which is not enough to meet all their basic needs and the public’s supports is required in order to provide quality care.
