Mothers treated to orchids on Mother’s Day

Repotting demonstrations took place during the show and mothers were able to socialise, learn about and buy different types of orchid plants, soils, books and plant materials.

Mothers from across Gauteng travelled to Edenvale for the annual Mother’s Day Orchid Show, prepared by the East Rand Orchid Society.

The show took place at the Edenvale Community Centre from May 9 to May 11.

Repotting demonstrations took place during the show and mothers were able to socialise, learn about and buy different types of orchid plants, soils, books and plant materials.

According to the Orchid Show’s chairman, Mr Andre Van Wyk, “The orchid show here in Edenvale has been successful and everyone came out to enjoy the show. The highlight has most definitely been the number of visitors. The visitors have asked questions and were able to learn about orchids. This has been a place for them to come, learn and attain a better understanding of orchids.”

“The annual show has grown over the years and is slowly becoming a part of Edenvale’s culture. I am looking forward to organising the next Mother’s Day Orchid show which will take place next year,” said Mr Van Wyk. @BedfordJourno
