Winter Knights fight for the less fortunate

This year, the Winter Knights plan to spread the campaign beyond the borders of Round Table

As temperatures plummet and winter sets in, the Winter Knights of the Round Table are gearing up to bring warmth to thousands of less fortunate and destitute people.

“We are a family orientated young men’s organisation who make serving our communities a fun experience,” said President of Round Table Southern Africa, Mr Leon Garbade.

Over the past decade, the annual Winter Knights campaign has overseen the collection and distribution of blankets, warm clothing and hot meals to thousands in need each year.

“This project goes beyond provisions by bringing hope and smiles that warm the hearts of every life touched by Winter Knights,” said Mr Garbade.

This year, the Winter Knights plan to spread the campaign beyond the borders of Round Table by inviting local sport, social and community organisations to take up the challenge and join in with collecting and distributing blankets and warm clothing for shelters, old age homes, orphanages and other deserving recipients.

“Our aim is to create a fun challenge between community organisations so that the joy of being a Winter Knight can be experienced during the months of June and July. In this way, we plan to increase the reach of the campaign and to share the fun role that Round Table plays in serving the community,” said Mr Garbade.

160 Tables, throughout South Africa, have planned a variety of fundraising events to collect donations of blankets, warm clothing, non-perishable food and funds.
