Two men (20) arrested for unlicensed firearm, stolen property

According to Const Malatji, the second suspect had a knife and a navigator in his possession.

Two men were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and stolen property in Yeoville.

The arrests took place at the corner of Becker and Joe Slovo Drive on Sunday, July 20.

“The police were on a routine patrol when they noticed two men attempting to break into a vehicle parked near a traffic light. The police confronted the suspects and searched them. A 9mm pistol was found on one of the suspects with the serial number filed off,” said Constable Thabo Malatji, of the Yeoville SAPS.

According to Const Malatji, the second suspect had a knife and a navigator in his possession.

“The suspects were arrested and are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon and stolen property,” said Const Malatji. @JoburgJourno
