Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said police officers received information from a security guard about three suspects who were dropped off by a white Toyota Camry at the corner of York and Queen streets in Kensington.
“One of the security guards saw the suspects trying to jump into one of the houses in York Street. Later, the suspects were seen being picked up by the same vehicle. They drove off. The security guard gave a description of the car and the direction the suspects fled,” said Const Mashakane.
The police followed the car and managed to stop it.
They searched the vehicle and found a grinder, a bunch of keys and gloves.
“The suspects, aged 22, 23, 24, 29 and 45, could not explain what they are doing with the tools and they were arrested,” said Const Mashakane.
The suspects will be checked to determine if they are linked to other burglaries in the area.
