Woman arrested for fraud

When the employee checked the system, he found that the card belonged to someone else.

A woman was arrested for fraud at Eastgate shopping centre on Thursday, August 28.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, “An on-duty ABSA employee was approached by a woman wanting to renew her bank card because her old bank card had been declined at several ATMs.”

“When the employee checked the card, he noticed it was blocked. The employee asked about her address she failed to answer. When the employee checked the system, he found that the card belonged to someone else,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

“The man phoned the owner of the card and found that his card was being used fraudulently,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

The SAPS was alerted and the woman was arrested. Investigations are ongoing and the woman is due to appear in court. @BedfordJourno
