Alert officers catch man with stolen car

With the assistance of the Equestrian Unit from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), a second man linked to the theft of the vehicle was arrested

An alert police officer patrolling through Edenvale yesterday spotted a vehicle suspected to have been stolen in Kempton Park.

Shortly afterwards, the vehicle was positively identified as stolen and officers ordered the driver to stop the vehicle.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was arrested.

The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said that when the vehicle was searched officers found implements used in residential burglaries.

“With the assistance of the Equestrian Unit from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), a second man linked to the theft of the vehicle was arrested,” said Lt Col Roberts.

Both men will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon on charges relating to the theft of the vehicle.
