Balwin Properties declined to comment on allegations that it is in violation of bylaws.
This is after the NEWS approached the company for comment regarding complaints received from residents of Greenstone Crescent.
Some residents of Greenstone Crescent claim the company is not adhering to the bylaws as stipulated by the council.
The residents said they have been woken by construction noise on numerous occasions and the company does not seem to take their grievances seriously.
Speaking on behalf of residents, Ms Kerry-Leigh Glass said Balwin Properties has been building in Greenstone for some time now but recently they have been experiencing issues with the noise which is happening before and after the times stipulated by the bylaws.
“On June 9, I emailed Balwin with regards to a complaint from residents of Aloe Ridge regarding construction noise that started at 5.30am, going on until 7pm. I then asked if they could possibly send through odd working times anticipated so that we can publish those on the Greenstone Hill Page to avoid further complaints. The contract manager said their working hours are in exact accordance with the council bylaws,” said Ms Glass.
The council bylaws stipulate that construction work must start at 6am and end at 6pm during the week and 6am to 5pm on Saturdays with no work on Sundays.
Ms Glass said despite getting assurance that the work is done during the hours stipulated, the construction noise continues.
The NEWS forwarded an inquiry and request for comment on July 14 to Balwin Properties’ marketing manager, Ms Amber Heywood.
The NEWS followed up by contacting Ms Heywood on July 16, who acknowledged receipt of the inquiry.
She told the NEWS no comment will be forthcoming.
