The Edenvale SAPS arrested a suspect for being in possession of suspected stolen property on October 10.
Captain Jean Olckers, the spokesperson of the Edenvale SAPS, said the arrest was made after administration staff who were patrolling in the Avenues noticed a roll of copper wire and brass taps being thrown over a wall.
Capt Olckers said the officers also saw the suspect climbing over the wall.
“The suspect could not explain how he got the wire or taps. It appears that he had been stripping an empty house in the Avenues,” said Capt Olckers.
Captain Olckers said the owner of the property was contacted and the police are waiting for feedback from him.
“We urge the public to be on the look-out for suspicious behaviour and to report it to the police,” said Capt Olckers.
