The Avios travel rewards programme recently handed over 25 000 discs to the South African Flying Disc Association (SAFDA).
The handover was made at Reddam House during its annual Gauteng Schools Tournament.
The donation of the bright green discs, which is the colour that represents Avios’ recent partnership with kulula.com, has been given in support of a unique, affordable and exciting sport called Ultimate, widely known as Ultimate Frisbee.
Mr Jay Hart, the SAFDA vice chairperson and avid South African Ultimate player, said Ultimate Frisbee is about to explode onto the South African and world scene.
In South Africa there are more than 1 000 active Ultimate players. Approximately 450 to 500 attend national level tournaments each year.
