Sookraj ready to lead Edenvale SAPS
“The projects which were started will continue, we will take them to the next level.”
Colonel Sudesh Sookraj has been appointed as the new station commander for the Edenvale Police Station.

With 35 years of policing experience behind him, Sookraj is confident that he and his team will be able to assist Edenvale.

He reported to the Edenvale Police Station on April 9.
Sookraj, a former station commander of Edenvale, believes his familiarity with the area will assist in the fight against crime.
In 2010 Sookraj was transferred to Kempton Park Police Station and then to the 10111-call centre.
At the call centre, Sookraj worked closely with the Flying Squad and the SAPS K9 Unit.
He said he noticed changes in Edenvale as it has grown and technology has been improved.
“We are going to focus on the root causes of crime and see that criminals in Edenvale are brought to justice,” said Sookraj.
“The community must be safe and its residents must feel safe.”
Sookraj said under his leadership the SAPS members will operate in an impartial and respectful manner.
“Resources will be used as effectively and efficiently as possible. Under my leadership, the police officers will go back to basics. This will see officers do the right thing the first time.”
“We will defeat crime in Edenvale. The town deserves better and we will deliver to the community.”
Sookraj said under his command the police will conduct more crime prevention operations, stop-and-searches operations and roadblocks.
Since Sookraj took up the role of station commander he has co-ordinated numerous operations in Edenvale
“As new station commander I will build on the policing structures started by Brigadier Steven Moodley. The projects which were started will continue. We will take them to the next level.”
Sookraj called for the community to work together.
“The Community Police Forum, patrollers and security companies need to work together to fight crime.”
Captain Jean Olckers, spokesperson of the Edenvale Police Station said Edenvale’s officers are ready to work with Sookraj.
“We have worked under the colonel before. We know his methods and are happy with him,” said Olckers.
Sookraj said that his door is always open for community members in need.
