IMPORTANT: Bedfordview rates hall and licensing centre CLOSED following burglary

Residents will only have access to the driver’s license renewal drive-through.

Residents are advised that the Bedfordview Licensing Centre and Rates Hall will be closed until further notice following a burglary on July 14.

City of Ekurhuleni, spokesperson Themba Gadebe said it is believed intruders gained access to the property through the roof by cutting all security wiring.

He said two cash drop-off safes were damaged during the burglary.

“A large amount of money, eNatis computer box, and a plasma TV screen were stolen. The eNatis server was also damaged during this burglary. All services that are offered at the center have been suspended until the investigations and systems reboot are done,” said Gadebe.

He added that residents can only access the driver’s license renewal drive-through.

Payments of rates and services have been directed to near-by centres including Germiston, Edenvale, and Kempton Park.
