Local business supports less privileged

Local business does it for the community as winter reaches a close.

With winter reaching its end, local engineering business Pilot Tools recently hosted its winter warmer drive in the Denver area.

The community engagement, which took place at the company’s premises in Denver, was the second Pilot Tools winter community engagement. Meals on Wheels operated a soup kitchen on the day, with a host of locals receiving family food packs, which included maize meal, oil, oats and other staple products.

Christine Crossley, senior caregiver for Meals on Wheels, an NPO which utilises voluntary helpers who prepare and deliver nourishing meals to the struggling elderly in the comfort of their own homes, said the soup kitchen drive aims to help those in need.

“We work in areas where we can service the poorest of the poor. It’s all about love and making a difference in others’ lives,” said Crossley.
