Allegations of sexual harassment, which recently made the rounds on social media, have surfaced at Queens High School.
Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi visited the school earlier today, September 7, to address the allegations.
While speaking to a crowd of female learners, the media and parents at the school’s assembly hall, he committed to resolving the matter “once and for all”.
The MEC committed to ensure the provision of counselling to girls who were allegedly victims of sexual harassment.
The EXPRESS learnt that at least three teachers, who cannot be named for fear of compromising future investigations, have been suspended.
“I want these stories to be shared with people who are equipped to get that information. Those who need counselling, we are committed to providing it. I’m glad that there are parents here, who are continuing to give us evidence,” said Lesufi.
He added, “I’m excited that the school has opened up, saying that there is a crisis. Assist us and let’s work together. No one therefore, should fear that their names or stories will be publicised outside.
“Those stories will be tested, and if found true, would’ve assisted many children who would’ve been victims like you.”
Principal at Queens high school did not take learners allegations seriously. Who is the perpetrator here? Is it just the educator?
