Lions and community members take to the sky
The day went well and the children enjoyed themselves.
Four children took to the skies of the greater Johannesburg area when they embarked on a helicopter ride at Rand Airport.
The one-hour helicopter flight was the first prize of Edenvale Lions Basketball Academy’s recent fund-raising initiative.

Those who enjoyed the flight included Monde Mahlelehlele and Penuel Mathebula, from the academy, and community members Mishka and Kyle Kaminski.
“The day went well and the children enjoyed themselves,” said coach and co-founder of the academy Edson Makavan.
Coach and co-founder of the academy Byron Pinheiro joined the children to watch over them.
Originally won by Baiphapi Sethaelo, the prize was donated back to the academy.
Edson said earlier this year the academy chose two members from the club and asked the community to nominate children they thought would enjoy the flight.
