EMPD investigates N3 hit-and-run, urges witnesses to come forward

A driver was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision involving a truck on the N3 near Germiston, prompting a police investigation and a warning to motorists.

The EMPD confirmed a serious hit-and-run on the N3 southbound near the Elands interchange in Germiston today, September 23.

According to an EMPD statement, the crash involved a truck and a car. The truck driver failed to stop after the collision and fled the scene.

The car driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

EMPD Motorcycle Unit officers and emergency medical services responded to the incident.

Motorists on the N3 southbound should approach the area with caution and expect delays.

The EMPD reminded motorists that failing to stop after an accident is a criminal offence, whether or not anyone is injured, and called on anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

A hit-and-run case is open, and an investigation is underway to find the truck driver.
