Collaboration between the Bedfordview SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Wardens and Crime Prevention Wardens ended in the arrest of a man in Elandsfontein on November 26.

Sergeant Lillian Modiga, the Bedfordview SAPS communication liaison officer, said members saw suspicious vehicles in a yard on Hattingh Street, Elandsfontein, and went to search it.

They found a man with 10 stolen tyres, who admitted to the theft when questioned.

“He tried to escape by breaking the door of the police vehicle after being arrested and transported to the Bedfordview Police Station.

“He was swiftly apprehended by the Gauteng Traffic Police and Crime Prevention Wardens as they escorted him to the police station,” reported Modiga.

The suspect faces charges of possession of stolen goods, escaping from lawful custody and malicious damage to State property.
