Bedfordview SAPS searches 400 learners during school safety operations
Small packets of suspected dagga/cannabis, a smoking pipe and scissors were among some of the items confiscated by the police following a School SAfety Search Operation at Sizwe and Bedford High schools.
Bedfordview SAPS, together with the Department of Community Safety, EMPD K9 Unit, Crime Prevention Wardens, Community in Blue patrollers and the Department of Education, conducted school safety search operations at Sizwe Secondary School and Bedfordview High School.
The operations were conducted on Tuesday morning.
Bedfordview SAPS Social Crime Prevention Co-ordinator Sergeant Lillian Modiga reported that approximately 400 learners were searched.

The following items were confiscated: vapes, lighters, Rizla papers, screwdrivers, small packets of suspected dagga/cannabis, rolled suspected dagga/cannabis, a smoking pipe and scissors classified as dangerous.
Modiga said all confiscated items were booked into the SAPS 13 exhibit register.
“Bedfordview SAPS remains committed to working with relevant stakeholders to promote a safe and secure learning environment for learners and educators,” she said.
