Bingo fun brings friends together at Thembalami Care Centre

“We had a wonderful morning playing Bingo, shared many laughs, and ate lots of chocolate."

Bingo buddies came together and bonded when the age-old number-calling game of chance, Bingo, was played at Thembalami Care Centre.

The recent event saw Thornhill Manor Retirement Village’s Happy Chatters group arrive at Thembalami for a fun-filled morning to spend with residents from Thembalami and Max Ordman Deaf Association.

The Care Centre and association are run by Rand Aid Association.

The Thornhill Manor team, which includes village social worker Karen Griessel and service-oriented resident Vicky Keenan, an occupational therapist by profession, regularly visits the care centre residents, all of who require some form of nursing, care or assistance.

Karen said the benefits of bingo include improved mental agility, hand-eye coordination, short-term memory, concentration, and stress relief.

“Our retirement village residents get as much from the interaction as the care centre residents,” said Karen.
