Edenvale Care Centre Hospice appeals for funding

“We need the community’s assistance otherwise we are going to be in trouble,” said Hooper.

As the year draws to a close Edenvale Care Centre Hospice has found itself in a dire situation.

The NPO, desperate for funding, appealed to the community for assistance.

According to centre manager Marlene Hooper, the situation is becoming extremely tough.

Hooper said the centre has enough funding to survive until the middle of December.

“We need the community’s assistance otherwise we are going to be in trouble,” said Hooper.

Hooper appealed to the community for any support – financial, food donations or good quality second-hand clothing the centre could resell.

In an effort to encourage donations, the care centre will host a competition between November 1 and December 1.

The care centre challenged community members and businesses to donate funds or items to it in order to stand a chance of winning a self-care hamper.

Marlene said the names of all donors will be put into a raffle, while the competition is running.

A winner’s name will be selected from the donors during the first week of December.

Donors are requested to use their name and contact number as a reference.

Founded in 2002, with a 13-bed ward, the NPO cares for a variety of patients ranging from the terminally ill to cancer and HIV/Aids patients.
