Join hands with Edenvale NPO to help local charities
“We are a close-knit group that enjoys making a difference and being in touch with our community.”
To help local charities and grow their reach, the Red Bin Brigade NPO called on community members to help where they can.
The Edenvale-based NPO and charity arm of Mamba Security helps several charities and organisations in and around town.
It consists of a group of dedicated pensioners who work to secure donations, sponsors and supplies for the organisations the NPO supports.

They include the Little Eden Society, the Tree of Hope, the Beacon of Hope, Child Welfare SA in Edenvale and Bedfordview, the SPCA and Primrose-based El-Shammah and Elandsvallei homes for the aged.
Red Bin Brigade co-ordinator Caroline Overbeek said that the NPO has seven community members working and liaising together.
“We are a close-knit group that enjoys making a difference and being in touch with our community. We create a ripple effect through the good we do in the community.”
The members collect donations ranging from useable second-hand goods, crafting materials, human and animal foods and necessities for women and children.
They do this while creating awareness at collection drives that the NPO hosts or the monthly markets its members attend.
Overbeek explained that as members of the NPO, community members are expected to attend one monthly meeting, one community market and a monthly food collection drive.
Besides knowing they make a difference, the Red Bin Brigade members receive free armed response from Mamba.

Overbeek said all usable second-hand goods get donated to charities that use or sell them to generate profit in their second-hand stores.
“All we ask is that donated second-hand items are still useable and have all the parts and pieces,” said Overbeek.
She said they could collect donations if necessary.
