SASSA card transition process not yet closed

Despite the March 20 Sassa deadline, Postbank confirmed that transitioning from Sassa gold cards to the new black cards will not close until it has served every beneficiary.

Many social grant beneficiaries still have not swapped their cards. However, Postbank officials have reassured the public that the process will remain open until every eligible beneficiary has made the switch.

The official transition deadline was November 30 last year.

Then, the deadline was extended to February 28 and later to March 20, but Postbank’s representative in Alberton City Mall confirmed that the process would not close prematurely.

According to Postbank staff member Tebogo Dlamini, the transition will continue until every individual needing to replace their card is served, even after the deadline passed.

“The process will not close sooner than necessary. We understand that some people are still transitioning, and we will ensure everyone is helped,” Dlamini said.

The transition will be complete only once all beneficiaries have received new black cards, meaning no one will be prematurely cut off.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to immediately replace their old Sassa gold cards to ensure a smooth transition and continued access to their benefits.

To further facilitate the process, Postbank has partnered with several major retail chains, including Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, and SPAR, to offer more locations where beneficiaries can replace their cards.
The expanded access aims to speed up the process and ensure everyone is supported.

For added convenience, beneficiaries can confirm the nearest replacement location by dialling *120*355# from their cellphones.
