Locals urged to continue saving lives through blood donation

The organisation called for more volunteers to donate blood and help save lives.

The New Pan Hellenic Voice hosted a life-saving blood donation drive in partnership with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) on April 10.

The organisation called for more volunteers to donate blood and help save lives.

The initiative was inspired by Maurice Creswick, who described donating blood as “an easy way to contribute to a cause that always needs more volunteers”.

Creswick broke the world record in May 2001 when he donated his 323rd unit of blood.

Among the donors was 16-year-old Kira Janse van Rensburg, who donated her first unit at what marked the organisation’s 145th blood drive.

Other donors included Catherine Constantinides, former Miss Earth South Africa and community activist, who is also a regular blood donor.

Additional donors on the day were Trisha Hargoman, Nic Voutsas, Nikky Tommei, Evi Zacharys, Aida Ioannides, Andrew Haines, and Ray Haines, who has donated more than 150 units to date.

The next blood drive will take place on June 19, between 15:00 and 18:00, at the SAHETI School Scouts Hall.
The community is invited to show their support.
