Ekurhuleni repairs dangerous hole at Bradford and Nicol roads

City of Ekurhuleni repairs dangerous hole on Bradford and Nicol roads following an accident on March 21.

The City of Ekurhuleni has assured residents and motorists that the dangerous hole on Bradford and Nicol roads has been repaired and the road is safe.

As reported by the Bedfordview Edenvale News, in an article titled RAG urges CoE to fix dangerous hole, published on April 8, an accident occurred at the spot on March 21.

CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini stated that the road surface would be reinstated as soon as the weather permitted.

He said a burst water pipe at the spot had been reported on March 18, with repairs commencing on March 19.

After the underground infrastructure work was completed, Dlamini said the road was partially reinstated by backfilling with topsoil, as the contractor did not have dry soil or graded gravel material immediately after the repair.

He noted that the ground must be dry before permanent repairs on the surface can take place.

A safety barrier incorporating danger tape and cones was put up by the CoE, who asserted that the accident had occurred because of poor visibility due to rain.
