RPM Raceway gears up for a national event

The track located in Meadowdale (the value centre behind Frontline) is quickly becoming a hotspot for RC enthusiasts since its opening in April.

RPM Raceway will be hosting the national radio-controlled (RC) racing event, attracting participants and spectators from across the country and beyond.

Rowan Rudman, the founder of RPM Raceway, said, “We aim to provide a family-oriented environment where everyone can enjoy the thrill of RC racing.”

An event not to be missed for petrol heads and the community at large.

The track features various racing classes that accommodate different types of cars, encouraging both seasoned racers and newcomers to participate.

“We’ve seen a significant increase in interest lately, with racers coming from as far as Dubai for our events,” Rudman added.

The upcoming national event will run from November 8 to 10 with drivers briefing starting on November 8.

The three-day competition includes practice sessions, qualifying rounds, and main races, allowing participants to showcase their skills across different vehicle categories.

Rudman emphasised the inclusivity of the sport, stating, “There’s no age limit. We have racers from nine to 84, making it a true family affair.”

He noted the positive impact the sport has had on bringing the community together with many participants forming lasting friendships.

The three-day competition includes practice sessions, qualifying rounds and main races.

The event is free for spectators.

“We want families to enjoy the day and support our racers. It’s about more than just competition; it’s a way to bring people together,” he said.

The race track operates every weekend, hosting club events every three weeks, where newcomers can join without prior registration.

The facility has quickly become a vital part of the local RC racing scene, accommodating high-speed petrol cars (nitro cars) that can reach speeds exceeding 160 km/h.
