Fighters to battle it out at Emperors Palace

A win will not only hand the East Rand boxer another belt but he will keep his unbeaten record and go 15-0

Primrose’s rising boxing star, Shervantaigh Koopman, will look to add another title to his collection as he faces Canadian Brandon “Bad Boy” Cook for the WBA Inter-Continental Junior Middleweight title.

The bout headlines the Abanqobi Box and Dine Tournament at Emperors Palace’s Centre Court this Saturday.

Emperors Palace’s entertainment manager Irvin Nkosi of Greenstone holds the WBA Inter-Continental Junior Middleweight belt that Canadian Brandon “Bad Boy” Cook (left) and local hero Shervantaigh Koopman (right) of Primrose will fight for.

Koopman (30) exuded confidence at a press conference on October 22, ahead of his showdown with the 38-year-old Canadian. Holding an unbeaten record of 14-0, the East Rand fighter aims to keep his winning streak intact and claim his 15th victory.

However, his opponent, Cook, comes with significant experience and a 26-2 record, including 18 knockouts, promising a tough contest.

Scheduled for 12 rounds, this fight follows Koopman’s recent success in June, when he claimed the IBO Inter-Continental Junior Middleweight title by defeating American Wendy “Haitian Fire” Toussaint, also at Emperors Palace.
